I expect no less from Anja Hertenberger and Meg Grant than to create intricate, thoughtful e-textile projects. With each project, both are always challenging the perception of what electronics and sensors could possibly look and, perhaps more importantly, feel like.
In their latest project, they create lovely pressure sensors using textile and embroidery techniques. The project is a collaboration with Museum de Kantfabriek (Lace Factory Museum) in Limburg.
Using the machines from the lace factory, they aim to make lace woven with conductive thread so it can be used as a basis for the sensors.
The project is ongoing with pressure sensors being their first exploration. You can follow their progress here.
