I’ve been to every Bay Area Maker Faire in the past few years both as a “maker” and, last year, as a mere pedestrian. I can tell you whether or not you participate in the faire or run around all day looking at the amazing things your fellow makers have made, it’s exhilarating. Also overwhelming — but overwhelming in that rare yet thrilling way where your mind is hyperactive and ricocheting with ideas. You always leave feeling that you, along with your fellow makers, can DO things to really SHAPE the world. And every year I go — just for those two days of maker spirit — that provide another year of motivation to keep working on things that are a bit difficult to explain to even your closet friends. “Yeah, yeah I put electronics in clothes…or something like that.” At the Maker Faire, you don’t have to explain WHY you spend your saturday nights tinkering when you can be out with your friends at a pub, you just have to explain how you made what you made and your motivations behind making it. It’s just easier… SO GO! I’ll be there. Let’s meet in person and say hello. Even better — participate! Here’s a link to the Call for Makers. See you in May!
