Needless to say, fashion and politics, especially the silk-screened T (think Shepard Fairey) , are tightly interwoven. Although I am one to shy away from wearing my politics on my sleeve, I can certainly appreciate the medium delivering the message. This is why the Polar Ice Cap shirt from WebelowWear is pretty darn cool in delivering the message concerning the consequences of global warming. When the environmental temperature reaches 96.8 fahrenheit, the the image of the ice caps begin to eerily melt away revealing the year 2009 (the 1980 seems to also disappear). The message of the T is direct: the ice caps that have been in place for 3,000 years, in the last 20 years, are quickly disappearing due to the dramatic shifts in global temperatures. The T-shirt itself is an American Apparel Sustainable Edition organic T and is printed with eco-friendly thermochromatic ink (hmmm… does a such an ink exist? gotta do some research on my end). So if you like the T, buy it and a portion of the each sale will be donated to the Climate Project. Available for $30 at WeBelowWear
