Wearable technology was the topic du jour on the The Gadget Show, a British television series focusing on technology. On the episode, the hosts, Jason and Suzi were challenged to create a wearable technology prototype and have it judged by designer Wayne Hemingway.

Suzi opted to create a pair of MP3 player shoes controlled via taps and swivels of the 2″ heel while Jason decided to build a wearable computing coat with a projection display.

The prototypes were developed by the product design firm Small Fry. And look! the Lilypad arduino and conductive thread are part of their tool kit.

What’s interesting about this episode is not the wearable tech inventions, but rather that it brings the small, obscure world of wearable technology into the mainstream consciousness—at least in Britain.
