Wednesday 5th October, 7pm: NJ STEVENSON IN CONVERSATION WITH NANCY TILBURY
Since graduating from The Royal College of Art in 1997 Nancy Tilbury has been a design pioneer in the field of fashioning technology. Nancy works for Philips Electronics as a consultant fashion director where she has partnered with Levi's, Nike and more recently The Haus of Gaga and The Black Eyed Peas with whom she created costumes for their world tour 2011 with Stylist B.Akerlund. Nancy has recently set up a fashion and technology collective called Studio XO which operates between London and LA. XO's London based fashion laboratory focuses on physical and digital intimacy. Nancy's innovation portfolio includes Digital Skins | Body Atmospheres, a fashion futures film set in 2050 to explore alchemistic couture through body sculpting, body modifications and boundriless textiles, while her clients and research partners also include EMI, ITV, Wayne McGregor | Random Dance & The Wellcome Trust.
NJ Stevenson has worked as a fashion writer and stylist since 1996, after leaving her first job as Girl Friday for designer Katharine Hammett. An alumna of the London College of Fashion, she specialised in vintage fashion before gaining an MA in Fashion Curation. NJ curated a major retrospective of the designer Bill Gibb at the Fashion and Textile Museum in 2008, is the author of The Chronology of Fashion: From Empire Dress to Ethical Design, published in April by A&C Black, and now lectures in Styling and Fashion in Film at the University of the Arts
