Venus: The Tougher Side of Interactive Fashion

Interactive fashion has seemingly ditched its sweeter illuminated pop-glam side for a tougher and grittier face. And its about time.

The strong story emerging from my last three posts is that performative fashion can imbue an element of toughness and extend beyond visual tricks that sparkle.

Embellished with LEDs and spikes, Venus is an interactive garment that uncomfortably shifts and crackles around the body. It appears to be designed with a proximity sensor which triggers the animation. The garment was designed by Eun-Mi Jung as part of her coursework at Hongik University.
