Nate & Kirk Mueller teamed up to teach “Seamless”, an introductory wearables technology course at RISD: The Rhode Island School of Design. From dresses that unzip themselves to sound sensitive fashions, the course produced some nicely designed experiments and investigations in high-tech fashion. Overview of a few projects below:
Motorized dress by Rosie Li that zips and unzips itself.
Construction details of motorized dress
Sound sensitive dress by Laura VanWylen that flashes in response to decibel levels.
A contagious coat by Egle Paulauskaite that uses tiny fans to create a breathing and undulating jacket
Lovely, light-sensitive dress by Emma Walsh. that illuminates at night.
