There’s been a bunch of activity and discussion around nitinol on this site. For all of you who are curious about nitinol, I want to share these wonderful nitionl experiments by Ted Ullrich. Ted is an interactive designer that creates mash-ups between the physical and digital world. For his master’s work, he is experimenting with creating a variety of tangible and phyiscal computing devices. You can view some of his experiments in the videos below. Although this experiment doesn’t use nitinol, I love the movement of the jittery bug. This last project is a demo of an “email monitor” that gives you an animated cue to the number of emails in your mailbox. Nice stuff!
